On Saturday 9th July, a team of 7 ladies from M12 ran the Pretty Muddy Race for Life in aid of Cancer Research. Held on Southsea common, we were amongst 3,000 runners who completed the course, which consisted of a 5k run, interspersed with muddy obstacles. It was a blistering hot day, which meant that the mud was welcome for most runners! 3 of our team had run Pretty Muddy last year, but 4 were newbies and so weren’t sure what to expect.

Before and during the very muddy race!

The obstacles included inflatable hurdles set in a slippery mud pit, space hoppers, tunnels to crawl through and nets to crawl under. Some of our team had been training for months…. some not so much! But nevertheless, we all completed the course and had a great time doing so. The final obstacle was a huge inflatable slide that we had to climb up and then slide down into a pool of mud! We emerged at the end totally caked and were presented with our medals and a well-needed drink.
