Yesterday was a momentous and also a sad day for the M12 team. The longest serving member of our team (apart from MD Andrew) retired after 17 years with the business! M12 is a family business and Sylvia has been a huge part of our family for the last 17 years. She held many important roles within M12, including Head of Accounts & HR and Company Secretary. She has been a vital part of our team, a mentor to many and a friend to all.

Sylvia is a woman of many talents and got involved in so many areas of the business over the years. She was always there for anyone to come and have a chat to, or ask for advice from, or keep the Directors in check! And of course she always got involved with everything. Including boating days, picnics, awards nights, treasure hunts, yachting, ski trips and more! So the thought of having M12 without Sylvia is rather strange, but she will always remain a part of our M12 family.

Andrew reminded us that this year we were awarded the ‘Best Company to Work For’ at the CRN Sales & Marketing Awards, and that this was in no small part due to Sylvia and her ‘HR surgeries’ where she set aside time and encouraged staff members to drop in to chat with her about anything and everything.

Covid has meant that we haven’t seen very much of Sylvia over the last 7 months, but we have all been staying in touch via Zoom, Teams and phone calls. And she came into the office yesterday for a few of us to say a socially distanced farewell (and have some cake of course!)

We sent her on her way with some gifts, including a lovely book full of memories and photos from over the years. Reading through the book reminded our team of some of the fun, adventurous and sometimes bonkers things we’ve got up to over the years! In fact, Sylvia said she’s not sure how she’s going to explain some of the photos to her family! It was an emotional day for all, not just Sylvia, and she thanked us all for making M12 such a lovely place to work.

So Sylvia, you will be greatly missed and we all hope you enjoy your very well-deserved retirement. Pop in for a cuppa and a slice of cake anytime!

Here are a few of Sylvia’s best bits:
