In recent times there has been a buzz around so called 'Unlimited Call Packages', where telco's are advertising unlimited calls for business to UK landlines, UK mobiles and some UK Non-Geo numbers (0845/0870). However with closer inspection these packages are found to increase your costs, sign you up to minimum spend commitments and lengthy contracts; not exactly what you expected.

BT Business One Plan
- Requires a 24 month commitment.
- Requires a minimum spend commitment of either £200, £500, £5,000, £30,000, £100,000, £200,000 or £500,000 per year!
- Maximum of 100 lines allowed.
- Charges a monthly subscription fee per line for the unlimited calls. This ranges from £12.50 to £15 per month per line, and is on top of your circa £12-15 per month line rental!
How the BT Business One Plan charges could add up:
- 30 channels of ISDN 30: 30 x £15.19 = £455.70 per month (required)
- BT Business One Plan Subscription: 30 x £14 = £420.00 per month
- BT Business One Plan Call Commitment: £30,000 per year
- Higher call charges outside the package allowances
What to look out for:
- Minimum Spend Commitments
- The monthly subscription which is on top of your monthly line rental to take advantage of the deal
- Fair usage policy that can restrict:
- Inclusive calls up to 1hr, after which they will be charged at standard rates
- The number of 'unlimited minutes' to an actual figure, after which they will be charged at standard rates
- Hidden call set-up charges, attributing a cost to every call no matter whether the length was 1 second or 1 hour.
