Saving example

The example below shows a monthly bill of £35.

  • The employee makes a monthly saving of £10.85 (20% tax and 11% NIC) by committing to pay the bill directly from gross salary.
  • If the employee is a higher rate tax payer their savings would be £14.35
  • Employer’s saving is 12.8% NIC (13.8% April 2011) of the monthly sacrificed salary. £35 x 12.8% x 24 month contract = £107.52 per employee.
  • For every 100 employee taking up the scheme the total employers NIC savings from on this basis would be £10,752.
