DefinitionsVoIP VoIP or Voice over Internet Protocol is a general term for a family of transmission technologies for delivery of voice communications over IP networks such as the Internet or a local area network. VoIP technologies allow the consoladation of both voice and data over the same physical network, thus reducing costs, faults and management issues. M12 Solutions recommends only VoIP phone systems in these modern times. VoIP systems also allow easier and quicker integration with other key technologies such as CRM databases, Microsoft Outlook contacts and other computer based information systems. Digital and Analogue Phone Systems traditionally don't allow for this support, or where they do, the integration is complicated, cumbersome and not feature rich. A key advantage of VoIP systems are that they mainly support a distributed architecture. This is especially true of the SpliceCom maximiser Phone System. This allows for Call Servers and Phone Modules to be connected over existing Ethernet cable in different locations within the company, or indeed at a different site over a WAN link, where phones and devices are connected to the nearest server/ module. With digital and analogue phone systems, phones and devices have to use dedicated wiring that routes back to the main call server, thus making this impractical for larger sites, or multi-sites. VoIP is the only way in the 21st Century. |
