What is ADSL2+?
ADSL2+ is the latest Broadband Internet technology for businesses and consumers. ADSL2+ enables users to receive up to 24 Mb/s download speeds, and 1 Mb/s upload speeds at an attractive monthly rate not too dissimilar to standard ADSL Broadband pricing. ADSL2+ Annex M is the ADSL2+ service that increases the available upload speed to up to 2.5 Mb/s. M12 Solutions use the Tiscali, BT and Cable and Wireless networks to deliver this type of ADSL broadband. Where is it available?
Currently ADSL2+ is available at a selected number of BT Exchanges around the UK. To find out if ADSL2+ is available at the BT Exchange you use, please fill in the short form below. How is it delivered?
ADSL2+ appears in the same way as ADSL. You still will require a dedicated analogue BT line from a compatible ADSL2+ BT Exchange. Your ADSL2+ modem will need to be connected to the BT sockets through an ADSL micro filter. Do I need any special equipment?
Most modern ADSL broadband modems have built in support for both ADSL and ADSL 2. So if you are currently using the standard ADSL broadband services, chances are that your current modem will work with ADSL2+. However, you will need to check with the manufacturer of the modem for full technical specifications. What bandwidth will I receive?Dependant on:
As with standard ADSL broadband, your bandwidth will be determined on a number of factors. Most of these factors are due to BT using the ageing copper wiring from the local BT Exchange to customers' premises. I require a more reliable/ faster connection, what do I need?
ADSL was never designed to be used a business critical, reliable and very quick Internet service for businesses. It was designed to be cost effective route for end users to increase their Internet speeds without having to spend thousands of pounds on costly Leased Lines or other Internet services with SLAs attached. SDSL is available at selected Exchanges and offers customers better reliability and synchronous download and upload speeds. For instance, if you have a 2 Mb/s SDSL circuit, your download bandwidth will be up to 2 Mb/s and your upload bandwidth with be synced to this speeds. So you will receive up to 2 Mb/s upload. Leased Lines are the best available solution to businesses wishing a high relability and high bandwidth Internet service. Leased Lines can provide anthing from 2 Mb/s to 1 Gb/s download/ upload and beyond. Internet over Leased Lines can be delivered over standard copper cable to the PoP at the local BT Exchange, or over Fibre if distance or quality is an issue. Click here for more information on Leased Lines. EB-SA is still an ADSL type Broadband Internet service, therefore it is not likely to be any more reliable than ADSL/ ADSL2+/ ADSL2+ Annex M, however it's contention rate is 1:1 and it is a fully managed Internet service. |
